Baked Steak
1 1/2 - 2 lbs Round Steak (Mom sometimes used cube steak)
Oil
Kitchen Bouquet
Flour
Cut meat into pieces, cut off fat. Place fat pieces in skillet and brown. Roll meat pieces in flour and seasoning (season of your chioce salt,pepper, lawry's seasoning salt) Add a little bit of oil to pan. Brown meat in fat drippings and oil. Place meat in dutch oven pan. Place flour in skillet and brown flour with left over pan drippings, add cold water and kitchen bouquet. Pour over meat in dutch oven pan. You might need to add more gravy, if so mix cold water and flour with seasonings into a jar and shake. Add to dutch oven. You will want to make the gravy a little runny because it will thicken as it cooks.
Cook at 350* 45 minutes or until the meat is tender. Test with fork for tenderness.
In Crockpot: Same as above except add more water.
You can also add mushrooms for added flavor. I prefer the oven method because the flavor is better, but the crockpot is easier and the meat is usually more tender.
